Discover the great outdoors

There are more than 3 million hectares of state forest, with 430 visitor sites and 290 recreational trails ready to be explored in Victoria.

Whether you want to go camping for the weekend, take the family on a picnic or go off-road in your 4WD, there are so many ways to enjoy the great outdoors in our state forests.

Our aim

Explore Outdoors makes it easier to find information about visiting our state forests and park and getting out into nature.

We want to help you choose where to go, know what to expect when you get there, and have all the information you need for a fun and safe experience in our state forests and parks.

The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) launched Explore Outdoors to provide better information about visiting state forests and parks.

We work in partnership with Parks Victoria, Traditional Owners, local councils, water and planning authorities to protect and manage public land and provide recreation sites that benefit communities and help people spend more time in nature.
