Discover the great outdoors

There are more than 3 million hectares of state forest and over 600 visitor sites and recreational trails in Victoria managed by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA). This is an addition to over 4 million hectares of land and marine parks and reserves managed by Parks Victoria.

Our aim

DEECA launched Explore Outdoors to provide better information about visiting state forests and parks and make it easier to get out into nature.

We want to help you choose where to go, know what to expect when you get there, and have all the information you need for a fun and safe experience in our state forests and parks.

We work in partnership with Parks Victoria, Traditional Owners, local councils, water and planning authorities to protect and manage public land and provide recreation sites that benefit communities and help people spend more time in nature.
