Preserving our hut heritage

Once, they were havens for timber workers, miners or graziers plying their trade deep in Victoria’s forests. Nowadays, they are popular attractions and shelters for visitors seeking an authentic High-Country experience.

There are more than 20 huts scattered through Victoria’s State forests, many accessible by 4WD only. Help protect our historic huts by following the High Country Huts Code.
