About this campground
Froam is one of a number of family friendly campgrounds along Freestone Creek. It is a small open site and a quieter option than the nearby popular Blue Pool. It is is a short 500m walk to Blue Pool. It is ideal for day visits or longer stays. Being close to Briagolong allows for a walk and a picnic in the morning and a visit to an art gallery in the afternoon. Alternatively, campers can set up for several days and explore the area’s rich history and natural environment on foot, by bicycle or vehicle.
The Freestone Creek Walking Track passes through the site. Head north to explore the area’s gold-rush history and Track Ninety-Six. Head south to discover nearby Blue Pool and the Fern Gully Walk. Fishing is a great way to relax at Froam as you can easily access the beautiful creek from the campground.
Enjoy nature
The forest along this section of the creek is a mix of eucalypt species such as messmate, red stringybark, mountain grey-gum and manna gum. Understorey species include common bird-orchid, dusty daisy-bush and golden tip. There are many bird and animal species in the area. Listen out for the distinctive call of frogs at night. Perhaps catch a glimpse of a peregrine falcon in flight.
