Information for tour operators

Victoria’s tour operators and educational and recreational activity providers offer opportunities to connect people with the outdoors and contribute to the visitor and broader economies.

Public land managers support safe, sustainable, high-quality nature-based tourism in Victoria.

To run commercial tours and recreational activities on public land for profit, tour operators must be licensed by the land manager.

On DEECA managed land such as state forests, tour operator licences are managed by Parks Victoria.

Other areas of crown land may be also managed by Parks Victoria or municipal councils, coastal committees or Alpine Resorts Victoria.

Find out more about who manages the land you want a licence on, who needs a licence, fees and how to apply.

Allow a minimum of 8 weeks for your application to be processed.

Information on events

There are hundreds of commercial, community and recreational events held in state forests every year. DEECA needs to ensure these events are held safely and meet regulations.

Permits are often required for events proposed to be run on land managed by DEECA.
