About the parklands

Cardinia Creek Regional Parklands will provide more than 600 hectares of parkland. The parklands will be on both sides of Cardinia Creek from Beaconsfield to Clyde.

The name Cardinia derives from 'Kar Din Yarr'. This means looking at the rising sun and sunrise in the Kulin language.

The project will create green open spaces, increase access for visitors, and protect plants and animals.

The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action is working with parkland partners to realise the vision for the expanded parklands. The Cardinia Creek Regional Parklands Future Directions Plan 2022 guides this work.

Work is complete on a new shared walking and cycling path and boardwalk bridge.

Where are the parklands located?

The Cardinia Creek Regional Parklands are located between Beaconsfield and Clyde in Melbourne’s south-east. The parklands are on Bunurong Country.

Some parkland areas aren't open to the public to protect high conservation and cultural values.
