About this tour

The Briagolong-Dargo scenic drive is a beautiful half-day journey along Freestone Creek, with lots of opportunities for bushwalking, picnicking and camping.

Or stay overnight at one of several campgrounds along the route so you can explore some of the bushwalks in the area.

Starting in Briagolong, the first attraction and one of the main highlights of the trip is Blue Pool. This popular picnic, camping and swimming area holds great significance for the Gunaikurnai Traditional Owners. Cool off in the swimming hole or take one of several walks from the day visitor area, like the Freestone Creek Walking Track.

Camping on the tour

There are several more campgrounds as you drive north - Froam Campground, McKinnons Point Campground, Carneys Camp, Shadeys Place, Johnstons Flat, Lloyds Knob, Sportsman Creek, and Meyers Flat.

Just past Lloyds Knob campground is an optional side trip for 4WDs to Lees Creek (4WD Grade – Medium), where you can enjoy a picnic area that connects to the Alistair Fielding Walking Track.

At Pretty Boy Hill enjoy the Granite Creek Walking Track to exploring the historic Granite Creek gold mining area.
