About this picnic area

Forest Camp Day Visitor Area on the banks of the Delatite River offers easy access, great fishing and plenty of space to enjoy the peace or kick a ball.

Have lunch at one of the many picnic tables or try your luck fishing for Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout or Golden Perch.

Forest Camp was originally established in the late 1940s by the State Electricity Commission (SEC) and was known as Delatite Camp. It housed up to 30 workers who were constructing the nearby high transmission powerlines for the Kiewa Hydroelectric Scheme.

In the late 1950s, the site was taken over by the Forest Commission and used to house local forest workers who were planting pine plantations along the Delatite Arm Peninsula on the shores of Lake Eildon.
