About this site

Originally a forest worker's shelter in the 1890's, Mugwamp Hut is now a popular spot to visit in the Mount Cole State Forest for camping, picnicking and various other recreational activities.

Help protect our historic huts by following the High Country Huts Code.

The open grassy picnic area is surrounded by large eucalypts providing a quiet, picturesque site to enjoy a wood fired BBQ at the nearby picnic tables.

The site is suitable for small groups or individuals looking for an attractive camping experience.

You can also access parts of the Beeripmo Walk and do a day walk out to Mount Buangor.
