About this site
Linton Firefighter Memorial site is a short 3km drive from Linton in the Linton State Forest. The site commemorates the 5 volunteer firefighters who tragically lost their lives in the Linton bushfires on 2 December 1998.
Accessibility information
The picnic area at this site is accessible for people in a wheelchair or with mobility needs, with disabled car parking, accessible toilets and wheelchair-friendly picnic tables available.
The walk to the memorial site is not suitable for wheelchairs.
Linton Firefighter Memorial Picnic Area
A place of peace and solitude, visitors are invited to spend time reflecting at the memorial.
Facilities include a dual toilet, 3 picnic tables, car parking and connected pathways, which are also used by those undertaking firefighting training in the area for the Country Fire Association, Forest Fire Management Victoria and others.
A small native memorial garden has been established within the picnic grounds for quiet reflection.
Linton Firefighter Memorial Walk
A short but steep 150m walk takes you from the picnic area down to the memorial site. The site features a few benches for those wishing to stay for some quiet reflection.
